Les formes monstrueuses |
||
![]() |
The
forms known as "monstrous" are quite as rare, but interesting
to study. The opposite appearing specimen of hoplites presents an anomaly
on last rolling up. One clearly distinguishes a depression from the "test"
or shell. Accident undoubtedly due to a bite by a predator. Then the shell
continued to push by keeping the scar. For the specimen below (represented under 3 different angles) it is a little more enigmatic; initially on the sight on the right, 2 coasts meet abnormally at the peripheral top; then, it is towards the end of its life that abruptly the shell was abruptly tied without trace of clear break. Perhaps let us have to be done here with a disease or degeneration of the ammonite. |
